Alyssa Carbone

Kean Student Accepted into the McNair Scholars Program

December 17, 2018

You’ve heard the saying “first impressions are lasting impressions.” So it warms our hearts to know that Kean University is now responsible for paving the way for yet another, bright scholar.

Elizabeth New Jersey native, Alyssa Carbone ’19, is in the final stride of her senior year and recalls her first impression of Kean University beginning with her initial visit as a Student for a Day. The university that is just a short distance from her childhood home, has always been a familiar household name. Yet it was not until this particular visit, that Alyssa “fell in love” with the university she would soon prepare to call her alma mater.

As a result of another first impression, she enrolled in STEM’s Research First Initiative program and solidified her major in Biology and Health Professions.

In creating her own legacy, even as a commuter, Alyssa embraces student leadership and involvement. A Student Ambassador and member of Omega Sigma Psi sorority since her freshman year, she finds purpose in speaking with prospective students and sharing her experiences with hopes to inspire the next generation.

A recipient of numerous Foundation scholarships and graduating May ‘19, Alyssa hopes to continue her education post-graduation. Now accepted into the McNair Scholars Program, she’ll soon take the next road to pursue a master’s degree as a Physician’s Assistant. Her long-term goal, is to obtain her Ph.D. in Neuroscience.

She has not only captivated those around her with her will to achieve academic success but has fulfilled the Foundations mission and purpose beyond measures.

We hope that Alyssa’s story has inspired you as it has us. Kean has been dedicated to providing students with a world-class education to help establish their promising careers. Through the Foundation, we are able to aid their success with scholarships and educational opportunities. Please consider helping students like Alyssa reach their highest potential by making a gift today. It is through the art of giving, that truly makes the holidays special.
