The Community Reinvestment Act

March 2023

Academic Spotlight – Saran NurseThe Community Reinvestment Act, or CRA, enacted in 1977, requires the Federal Reserve and other federal banking regulators to encourage financial institutions to help meet the credit needs of the communities in which they do business, including low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.

The Kean University Foundation and Kean University’s College of Business and Public Management are working with local financial institutions to build programs focusing on financial literacy in support of our underserved and under-resourced communities. These industry-academic partners provide financial education while helping the local companies fulfill their CRA requirements.
