The 2024 Kean University Medallion Society Reception

In celebration of legacy and generosity, Kean University Foundation recently hosted the 2024 Medallion Society Reception, an event dedicated to honoring individuals who have chosen to support Kean University through planned gifts. Paired with this year's gathering, the reception also honored esteemed Kean University Professor Emeritus W. Carl Burger, a Medallion Society Member who passed away last year. As an educator, mentor and benefactor, Burger's influence has shaped countless lives, instilling a passion for art and a commitment to service among students and colleagues alike.

Among the 75 attendees was keynote speaker, Dr. Dorothy G. Hennings H’10, a name synonymous with Kean's values of commitment and excellence. Dr. Hennings shared her heartfelt journey with her late husband, George, illuminating their connection to Kean University and the profound impact they sought to make through planned giving.

The afternoon also featured speeches from William H. Miller, CFRE, Kean University Foundation CEO, Lori Funicello, Kean University Foundation Director of Planned Giving, Darlene Repollet on behalf of Kean University President Lamont O. Repollet Ed.D. ’00, as well as Student Ambassador, David Graham and alumnus and close friend of the late Carl Burger, Charles A. Klein ’66. The overall narrative highlighted the transformative power of planned gifts, emphasizing how they can provide an enduring legacy that transcends generations.

The 2024 Medallion Society Reception not only celebrated the generosity of its esteemed members but also served as inspiration to the others in the room. In honoring the legacies of individuals like Carl Burger, George and Dorothy Hennings and all of the Medallion Society Members, Kean University continues to uphold its commitment to excellence, innovation and service for generations to come.
