Jasmine Hansford

Kean University is home to many ambitious students striving for academic excellence and professional growth. Among them is Jasmine Hansford, a first-year graduate student currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Originally from Bordentown, NJ, Jasmine earned her undergraduate degree in Business Management from Howard University and is now making her mark at Kean as a dedicated and engaged student.

Hansford’s passion for education has always been evident, and earning a master’s degree was a goal she was determined to achieve. She currently serves as a graduate assistant with the College of Business and Public Management (CBPM), where she is actively building a professional network and supporting faculty members. Her primary focus is on Urban Business Insights (UBI), a publication showcasing student research for CBPM. As head editor, she is leading the development of its third issue. Her role also involves administrative projects within the Dean’s Office and assisting professors with research. She is also balancing a full course load and remains on track to graduate in May 2026.

Hansford speaks highly of her experience at Kean, particularly the faculty, whom she describes as supportive, caring and eager to connect students with professional opportunities. She also appreciates the diverse campus community, where she has met students from all over the world. Living on campus has been a great experience for her, offering convenience and a strong sense of community.

Beyond academics, Hansford is deeply involved in campus activities. She enjoys attending athletic events, including basketball, football and soccer games, where she supports her friends on various teams. Homecoming was a highlight for her, particularly the Sneaker Ball event, and a concert hosted by Flo Rida.

Leadership and professional development are also central to her journey at Kean. She participates in the Adaptive Growth Leadership Program and is preparing for the upcoming women’s flag football season. Additionally, she serves on the President’s Advisory Council (PAC), acting as a liaison between students and the Office of the President to address student concerns.

Academically, Jasmine has experienced significant growth, and she credits Professor Joseph Patanella, PT, DPT, MBA, Ph.D., as a key mentor who has helped her build confidence and improve her skills throughout the semester.
