June 24, 2022

Dr. Arthur F. Kirk, Jr. ’68 ’73 has published his memoir, Sometimes Wrong but Never in Doubt (that I was right). Artie served as a college and university President for 31 years at two colleges. Having earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Kean (then Newark State College), he achieved his doctorate from Rutgers University. In 2015, two months following his retirement, he suffered three strokes within 15 hours. He nearly died. The strokes left him without the ability to read a single word.

Over the next two years, he taught himself to read again despite medical professionals stating it would not be possible. When he regained his ability to read, he began to write his memoir, which is now available on Amazon. Proceeds from the book’s sale will benefit the Kean University Foundation’s Kean Fund for Excellence.
