Coronavirus - March 17, 2020
Dear Kean University alumni,
Did you remember to turn your clocks forward? That was nine days ago. It feels like everyone changed their clocks at once, and we’ve been living in fast-forward ever since. Every headline, the first campus closures that snowballed into more than 100, the World Health Organization moving COVID-19 from an epidemic to a pandemic, and even the news about Tom Hanks seemed as if it happened instantaneously. It’s as if life has become inexplicably accelerated.
Coronavirus is on everyone's mind, with widespread effects being felt around the world. The markets are volatile, and we're all concerned for everyone’s health and safety. Please know we’re living through turbulent times together. You are our neighbors, our friends, and family. Your stories are our stories, and we know how resilient our alumni are.
We are writing to share our support with respect to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We want to acknowledge the anxiety of the unknown. We haven’t been through something of this scale together. But, as our routines and comforts are temporarily disrupted, we want to share our confidence in the strength of our Kean alumni and friends – your strength. You are a smart, passionate, and an empathetic force for good. The grit and determination that makes us all Kean Cougars will help our communities get through this together. The Kean University Foundation stands with you.
Thank you for continuing to look out for one another, and for our Kean community overall. Stay healthy and safe. Our thoughts are with our global alumni community during this unprecedented time.
